Dear Straight People,
Taiwan’s highest grossing LGBTQ+ film of all time, Your Name Engraved Herein, is officially coming to Netflix on 23 December 2020!
Based on director Liu Kuang-Hui’s high school memories, the critically acclaimed Taiwanese film centers on two high school students in an all-boys boarding school during the 1980s. The two protagonists grapple with their increasingly intimate relationship, which faces further challenges when their school starts admitting female students.
The critically acclaimed film won 2 Golden Horse Awards this year, namely ‘Best Cinematography’ and ‘Best ‘Best Original Film Song’. In addition, Your Name Engraved Herein was also nominated at the 57th Golden Horse Awards for ‘Best New Performer’ (Edward Chen), ‘Best Supporting Actor’ (Leon Dai) and ‘Best Original Film Score’.
Apart from bearing the honour of being Taiwan’s highest grossing LGBTQ+ film of all time, Your Name Engraved Herein also bears the distinction of being the first gay film to come out of Taiwan since Taiwan legalised same-sex marriage.
