After a 2 year hiatus, Vietnam’s annual pride event returned with a massive on-ground Pride celebration.

Dear Straight People,
After scaling down in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic, Hanoi Pride 2022 returned with a massive bang.
Taking place from 19 to 25 September, Hanoi Pride featured over 20 different activities organised by 12 community groups and NGOs. From exhibitions to parties, activities were organised under the theme “Knock, Knock! It’s Love.”
With the theme of “Knock, Knock! It’s Love”, Hanoi Pride 2022 hopes to open the doors to a new era, a new journey full of love and support inside and outside the community.
Each knock shall be opening the doors to love and closing behind social prejudice.

One of the focal points of this year’s Pride event was to push for the “Tôi Đồng Ý” (I agree) movement, which seeks to legalise same-sex marriage in Vietnam.

All in all, the 11th edition of Hanoi Pride was an overwhelming success, reaching over 200,000 people online and offline.
“This year, we were honoured to welcome more than 6,000 people to join us. Offline and online, we reached more than 200,000 people.
I think those numbers represent how far Pride has come in Vietnam.”
Tran Nhat Quang, co-organiser
Here is a massive congratulations to the organisers of Hanoi Pride 2022 for a successful event. Fingers crossed that Vietnam legalises same-sex marriage soon!
