One of the most detrimental side-effects of adulting for me has been the toll it has taken on my teeth. Years of chugging coffee at work to fight off the z monster has done no favours to my smile.

Step 1: Personalised Consultation
Housed in an industrial building a short 5-minute walk from Lavender MRT station, I was greeted by their friendly service staff upon arrival. Taufiq, my therapist, kicked off the consultation by walking me through the entire process.
If there’s one thing that really struck me about the consultation, it’s that Wellaholic folks really love scientific terms. Suffice to say, most of the sophisticated words coming out of Taufiq’s mouth flew over my head.

Step 2: Brushing My Teeth
After assuring me that the entire process is painless, non-invasive and quick, I was told to give my teeth a thorough brush.
The rationale behind it was that it’s important for teeth to be debris-free before the chemicals from the teeth-whitening treatment can be applied. While it’s recommended that you brush your teeth before coming for a session, you can request for a toothbrush set should you prefer to do it right before the treatment commences.
Step 2: Teeth Whiteness Check
Once your teeth is cleaned, a teeth whiteness chart is used to determine just how much damage has been inflicted on your teeth.
With 24 shades of white, the scale allows you to gauge the whiteness of your teeth and estimate the amount of shades the treatment can whiten your teeth by. I’m not going to embarrass myself by telling you where my teeth stood on the scale but needless to say, my teeth needed a lot of help!
Step 3: Teeth Whitening
The teeth-whitening process kicks off with the application of a whitening agent on the teeth. This is then followed by the fitting of a custom-made teeth mould.
An industrial- grade LED lamp is then activated to work its magic. Carbamide peroxide and strong FDA approved UV light is used to deep clean and whiten your teeth.
Capable of blasting between 3,000 to 6,000W of light, the LED lamp delivers greater results the higher the output.
As a first-timer however, I was advised to go with the safer option of 3,000W as discomfort may be experienced post treatment if the energy output used is too high. But I decided not to pay heed to their warning and spontaneously chose to go with the 6,000W option.
Thankfully, my gamble paid off! I didn’t experience any form of discomfort or sensitivity in my teeth after the treatment.
Granted, the teeth whitening session itself was a tad uncomfortable at the start. Keeping your mouth open for a prolonged period of time isn’t exactly a walk in the park. But as the session lasted only about 30 minutes, it’s not something anyone would fret over.
Step 4: Instant Results!
